  • Dr.
    Bonnie Helfner

    Dr. Bonnie Helfner, has been a member of the Commack/Dix Hills community since 1980. Dr. Helfner graduated from Commack High School in 1986, earned her Bachelor of Science degree in biology and graduated with honors from SUNY at Stony Brook in 1990. Ever since she was a child, Dr. Helfner knew she was destined to become a dentist when, at age 6, she landed herself in big trouble by brushing toothpaste into her family’s red carpet while waiting for her parents to wake up one Saturday morning! A 1994 graduate of the SUNY at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, one of Dr. Helfner’s fondest memories is of taunting Buffalo Bills fans during each of their four consecutive Super Bowl losses. During her senior year, Dr. Helfner was awarded the coveted Pierre Fauchard Academy Award, presented to an outstanding student for exhibiting leadership, excelling in the clinical aspects of dentistry, and academically attaining superior grades. Upon graduation, Dr. Helfner continued her education, completing a General Practice Residency program at the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in Northport, NY in conjunction with emergency dental training at the University Hospital Medical Center in Stony Brook, NY. Shortly after successfully completing her residency program, Dr. Helfner opened her own office in Commack in 1997.

    She is consistently an active part of the Commack/Dix Hills community volunteering her time to give dental presentations to the students in Commack’s primary and intermediate schools, generously donating dental-related gift baskets to the local PTA organizations, participating annually in the Commack High School shadowing program designed to provide students with observational and hands-on opportunities in dentistry, and establishing an annual scholarship for Commack High School graduates.

    The Bonnie Helfner, DDS Beat the Odds Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who has shown significant improvement in his or her high school career by overcoming adversity and showing that by persevering, success is possible. Dr. Helfner was recognized in 2002 as one of Commack High School’s Alumni of Distinction for her efforts in reaching out to her community, improving the dental health and quality of life of the people who seek her professional services, and for her general compassion and humanity. Dr. Helfner dedicates herself to a lifetime of ongoing learning. She is a member of various dental study clubs, designed to keep dentists abreast of the latest dental technology and to enhance their skills and technique in all phases of their profession. Those who know Dr. Helfner know what an avid, diehard New York Mets fan she is. Her son’s middle name is actually Shea!! Dr. Helfner currently lives in Dix Hills with her husband, Mike, and their children, Drew and Dara. She takes great pride in her many accomplishments and remains enthusiastic about filling her life with a sense of purpose, contributing to her community as a dental health professional, and realizing the bright fulfillment of her many hopes and dreams.

  • Dr.
    Kristin Curro

    Dr. Kristin Curro completed her undergraduate studies at Boston College, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and a minor in Mathematics. Dr. Curro attended Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine, where she graduated first in her class. She then completed a General Practice Residency at North Shore University Hospital, and gained proficiency in all areas of general dentistry, including restorative dentistry, root canal therapy, pediatric (kids) dentistry and oral surgery. Following her residency, Dr. Curro was chosen to continue at North Shore as part of their two-year program, Fellowship in Advanced Prosthetics and Implant Dentistry. Dr. Curro places great emphasis on making the dental experience positive for all of her patients by providing quality care in a pleasant environment. She realizes going to the dentist can make many people nervous, therefore, she strives to make everyone feel comfortable and at ease. Having been raised in Greenlawn, Dr. Curro now lives in East Northport with her husband, Scott, a local orthodontist, their sons Tyler and Dylan, and their two dogs, Spike and Milo. In her free time, Dr. Curro enjoys spending as much time as possible with her family and friends, as well as going out to eat and trying new restaurants, photography, and travelling.

    Jaime Philip

    Dr. Jaime Philip, a native Long Islander, attended Villanova University where she earned her Bachelors degree in Biology with a Minor in Psychology and Spanish, graduating Cum Laude. She then attended the NYU College of Dentistry in 2014 to obtain her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree, and went on to complete a coveted General Practice Residency at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset. Once her residency was completed, Dr. Philip was asked to return as an Attending for three years from 2016 to 2019. Dr. Philip’s extensive training included placing and restoring implants and led her to become certified in Invisalign Orthodontics. She is a proud member of the American Dental Association, New York State Dental Association, SPEAR study club, and the American Academy of Clear Aligners.

    Dr. Philip loves dentistry for its combination of art and science, while helping people to improve their smiles and their confidence. She tries to provide the best service and care for everyone, treating every patient like her own family member. In her free time, Dr. Philip is an avid reader and movie-goer, but her favorite thing to do is to travel to other countries and spend time with her family and friends, and especially with her husband Paul who is from Commack.

    Patricia Sciortino

    A third-generation dentist, Dr. Sciortino-King was born in Brooklyn and raised in Staten Island, New York. She was inspired at a young age to become a dentist just like her father and grandfather. Her passion was always to serve the community and become a healthcare advocate. 

    Dr. Sciortino-King received her Bachelors of Science in Biology with a concentration in Ethics in Healthcare degree at Villanova University. She then graduated from Creighton University School of Dentistry in Omaha, Nebraska. After graduating with her Doctorate in Dental Surgery, she continued her education at Staten Island University Hospital/Northwell Health where she completed a two-year general practice residency and graduated as chief resident of her class. 

    When it comes to patient care, Dr. Sciotiono-King values patient education and collaboration. Her philosophy has always been to treat patients the way she would want to be treated. She prides herself on providing a comprehensive evaluation of each patient and their needs and truly enjoys working together with them to see the long-term results of successful treatments. She loves getting to know her patients and treating the entire family while using the most up-to-date techniques and technology. 

    Dr. Sciortino-King specializes in comprehensive and cosmetic cases and sees patients as young as one! She also provides implant restorations, overdentures, fillings, crowns and bridges, pediatric treatments, endodontic treatment, extractions, bone grafts, and bruxism appliances. She is trained using Itero and CERAC technology, as well as Invisalign certified. In addition she is a member of the Suffolk County Dental Society, The American Dental Association, The Academy of General Dentistry, and the American Academy of Clear Aligners, and Dentists for a Better Huntington. 

    Dr. Sciortino-King currently resides in Huntington, Long Island. When she is not in the office, Dr. Sciotino loves traveling, cooking, and listening to live music. She is married and has the cutest Goldendoodle named Marty.
